Powering the next era of American energy, Energy LIVE is Reuters Events' main conference. It brings together the entire energy community. This includes producers, utilities, grid leaders, LNG, nuclear, tech innovators, and investors. They all gather to tackle the industry's biggest challenges.

ABOVE: Energy LIVE had six main content areas. There were more than 75 exhibitors and sponsors. The goal was to turn strategies into deals, partnerships, and practical solutions. Over two days, as part of the BrightInk scribe team, Peter Durand synthesized ideas clustered into color-coded themes.

2 days, 4 stages, almost 100 presentations, 1 visual artist 🎨

When people asked how I created visual notes for all of the concurrent sessions, I replied:

“Because I am an energy supergenius.”

Actually... I was using the Reuters app on my phone, which provided AI summaries and word clouds from the live content. Then I added color-themed sticky notes in clustered themes before illustrating.

Pretty swanky!

However, LLMs and robots still struggle to remove pen caps from markers, so there is still some job security.

I did learn from almost every presentation that AI training and data centers are driving demand for energy, water, construction, and skilled labour.

This is driving urgency and innovation for clean, firm, stable, reliable, resilient power from all sources.

Traditional hydrocarbons, nuclear, renewables, geothermal, and a new one for me: lava!! (aka "super hot rock") 🌋

Thanks to Bright Ink and Reuters Events for adding me to the team! — Peter Durand
